Day 40: Values, Aspirations and Moving Forward
Welcome to 40 Days of Mindfulness and Compassion Day 40!
Lecture
I hope that these 40 Days have been beneficial to you. In a sense, a lot has been thrown at you. There are many ways to engage the material, and I hope from the depths of my heart that whatever way you have engaged has been productive. You will receive a final email in a few days with links to resources as well as access to a file containing all meditations that will be available for download.
We have worked with value-identification as an aspect of self-kindness several times during these 40 days. This type of practice is one that can be returned to again and again, developing into a deeper connection with values and the development of clear intentions. Today’s practice, in particular can assist in giving more guidance, purpose and vision to our individual life path.
Our values reflect what, internally, we hold most dear.

Meditation Day 40: Three Questions to Give Direction
Self-Reflective Activities
When there is a quiet moment in your day, and when you feel like it, ask yourself, “In my heart of hearts, what do I really want in my life?”
If you find yourself yearning for meaning, wholeness, and connection in your life, acknowledge these and recognize them to be an essential part of your being. When you find yourself caught up in a forceful emotion, such as anger, sadness, or frustration, see if you can connect these feelings with an underlying need that you are seeking to fulfill.
Learn to recognize and appreciate the simple everyday joys that come your way during the day. Give yourself permission/encouragement to enjoy them.
